Why wasn’t I ever informed that Stevie Wonder made music for mad scientists? Found a good copy of his laughably ambitious Songs in the Key of Life (1976) at a junk store in San Diego yesterday, while shopping with Mel and our friend Shawnee. This track is called “I Wish.” If the music of Al Green is restrained, and Marvin Gaye’s is atmospheric, then Wonder’s is definitely … busy as all hell.
